Writer/director of the Guardians of the Galaxy films James Gunn revealed a key aspect of the upcoming Vol. 3 and how it ties in to Avengers: Infinity War.
Honestly he hasn’t given much away, but recently James Gunn confirmed at least one detail that will help paint a picture of what the 3rd Guardians film will entail, telling Twitter that the film will definitely take place after the events of Infinity War.
Now anyone who saw IW knows there really aren’t too many Guardians left who aren’t piles of ash, so what this will mean for the story is still a mystery. Apart from literally Nebula and Rocket, all of the other main characters have been erased from existence. This includes Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Mantis and of course Groot (that one still stings). Does this mean we’ll get a buddy-cop-style space adventure with Nebula and Rocket kicking names and taking ass? I sure hope so. But we’ll have to wait and see if the original Avengers can fix the MCU timeline and bring back all of our beloved heroes, though there’s still a good chance that fall took out Gamora for good unfortunately.
