James Gunn Reveals The ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Joke Disney Made Him Cut

James Gunn has revealed a cut Guardians of the Galaxy joke.

Disney forced James Gunn to remove a joke from the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie.

During a recent Q&A session on Twitter, James Gunn revealed that Disney made him cut a comedic moment from the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie. The scene in question featured Dave Bautista’s Drax and Chris Pratt’s Peter Quill, with the two discussing the latter’s homeworld. After Quill calls Earth “a planet of outlaws” with people like “Billy the Kid” and “John Stamos,” Drax says that he’d like to vist the planet to “kill many people there.”

While production on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was scheduled to begin early this year, the project was put on hold following Disney’s decision to remove James Gunn as the director of the final chapter in the trilogy. Now, Gunn will begin production on the third film after completing work on The Suicide Squad for Warner Bros. and DC, which he is currently editing from the safety from his home due to the ongoing crisis.

Details on the third chapter of James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy are currently unknown, though the film will likely explore the ramifications of the universe-changing events in Avengers: Endgame. The film is expected to star Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki and Sean Gunn.
