James Gunn Says He’s Done With ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ After Vol. 3

Director James Gunn has seemingly confirmed that he only has one more Guardians of the Galaxy film left in him.

On an Instagram post, James Gunn was asked by a fan how many Guardians of the Galaxy movies he is ready to direct, to which Gunn responded with “1 more”. With his Instagram comments naturally flooded, an eagle-eyed fan took a screenshot of the comment and immortalized it on Twitter. You can check the tweet out below.

It isn’t surprising that James Gunn isn’t interested in directing more Guardians of the Galaxy films now that he is also working with DC for Suicide Squad. Working for both competing studios must be quite the daunting and draining task, so no one can blame James Gunn for wanting to a step back. Beyond that, James Gunn has seen the Guardians of the Galaxy films through for over half a decade, and it might be time to just let go. There’s only so many superhero movies one can do before they get burned out. Perhaps James Gunn can return to his horror roots after he’s finished with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3?

There are currently no plot details on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 and it is expected to be the final iteration for these batch of characters.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is expected to star Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, and Sean Gunn.

Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest updates on James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
