As the release date for Avengers: Endgame approaches, we start getting more and juicier details for it. The newest bit of information we learned is that Guardians Of The Galaxy and The Suicide Squad director James Gunn is getting officially credited as an executive producer on Avengers: Endgame.
The Russo Brothers and James Gunn already worked together to bring Peter Quill and the other Guardians of the Galaxy to Avengers: Infinity War so these characters would be portrayed in the best way possible. James Gunn was credited as an executive producer for Avengers: Infinity War back then. Since Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame were shot back-to-back, it makes sense that James Gunn would also appear here as a collaborator as well.
It seems that Disney took James Gunn off from the film’s credits as part of his removal of anything related to Marvel Studios after they sacked him for some offensive tweets that he made years ago. This decision enraged fans and was seen as an incorrect move by Disney and Marvel since James Gunn took the mostly unknown Guardians of the Galaxy and made them a recognizable and profitable franchise for the entertainment giant. Disney went back on their decision recently and rehired James Gunn as director for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which makes his appointment as executive producer for Avengers: Endgame even sweeter.
James Gunn had completed his script for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and production was scheduled to begin early this year. However, the project was put on hold following the decision to remove James Gunn as the director of the final chapter in the trilogy, though Disney and Marvel Studios reportedly intended to use his script. Now, production on the third Guardians film will begin after James Gunn directs The Suicide Squad for Warners.
