Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is expected to be a part of Phase 5’s line-up, but the film currently has no release date attached to it. Not to mention many Marvel Studios’ projects have been pushed back due to the pandemic. However, Gunn will not be able to resume work on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 until he finishes The Suicide Squad, which is due out in 2021.
Filming for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 will probably start in 2021 at the earliest, with the film getting a 2022 or 2023 release date if this is the case. James Gunn has now responded to a rumored release date and gave us a bit more of an idea on when we can expect Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 to hit theaters.
James Gunn then revealed that the original release date was going to be this month, but the director was then fired off the project and Black Widow took its place.

While production on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was scheduled to begin early this year, the project was put on hold following Disney’s decision to remove James Gunn as the director of the final chapter in the trilogy. Now, Gunn will begin production on the third film after completing work on The Suicide Squad for Warner Bros. and DC, which he is currently editing from the safety from his home due to the ongoing crisis. Details on the third chapter of Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy are currently unknown, though the film will likely explore the ramifications of the universe-changing events in Avengers: Endgame.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is expected to star Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki and Sean Gunn.
