'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' director James Gunn reveals his favorite song featured in the film's official soundtrack.
But alongside that mixtape was the remarkable score by composer Tyler Bates, who returns to score Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. And thanks to their collaboration, it looks like Gunn is quite pleased with the instrumental score alongside the much-discussed Awesome Mix Vol. 2.
Gunn, who is one of the most prominent comic book movie filmmakers on social media revealed on Twitter his favorite song featured in the film’s score:
The title of the song must hint that this is connected to the relationship between Peter Quill and his father, Ego (Kurt Russell). Much of the film will explore their dynamic, and may serve as one of the more emotional aspects of the film’s story – particularly with Peter Quill’s journey since we first met him in the original film.
Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.
Directed by James Gunn and starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, Chris Sullivan, Sean Gunn, Sylvester Stallone and Kurt Russell, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 blasts into theaters on May 5, 2017.
