James Gunn Officially Confirms ‘The Suicide Squad’ Composer

The Suicide Squad director James Gunn confirmed the composer for the DC film and praised his previous work.

Although it originally seemed like James Gunn was reuniting with Tyler Bates for The Suicide Squad score, the director recently confirmed that British composer John Murphy has joined the DC film. There’s still over a year to go until the new version of the supervillain team arrives in theaters, but Gunn has quickly made the movie one of the most anticipated DC projects in the pipeline. On Twitter, the director teased that Murphy’s previous work makes him the perfect candidate for The Suicide Squad.

When asked who’s scoring The Suicide Squad, Gunn confirmed John Murphy as the composer, praising his work on Danny Boyle’s 28 Days Later and Sunshine. The director mentioned that they’re creating “something truly special” for the film’s score. He also joked that Murphy’s Liverpudlian accent is hilarious and keeps him amused. The director is no stranger to discussing his work on Twitter, previously explaining to fans that he doesn’t have a problem if Warner Bros. chooses to release the Ayer Cut of the first Suicide Squad film.
