James Gunn Says Not To Expect ‘The Suicide Squad’ Marketing Anytime Soon

James Gunn says that fans shouldn’t expect to see any marketing for The Suicide Squad anytime soon due to the coronavirus outbreak.

While James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad is scheduled to hit theaters in August 2021, filming has already been completed. Meanwhile, The Batman is expected to hit theaters in June of that year, but filming on that project has been put on hold due to the coronavirus outbreak. Gunn is currently editing The Suicide Squad from home and it looks like the film is on pace to be completed by next year.

So far, we’ve seen several official images from The Batman, but nothing from The Suicide Squad other than the film’s logo. Despite various set photos, fans are still eager to get an official look at James Gunn’s take on Task Force X. Based on a recent Twitter exchange between Gunn and a fan, it appears we might have to wait before we get the first proper look at The Suicide Squad due to the coronavirus:

When do you think we will get a first look at The Suicide Squad? CCXP 2020? Do you think the film might move up to The Batman‘s June 2021 release date? Sound-off in the comments below!

The first film followed a team of supervillains who were recruited by the government for a dangerous black ops mission in exchange for reduced sentences. The ensemble cast included Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and Jared Leto as The Joker. However, James Gunn is expected to deliver on the fresh take on Task Force X in his upcoming movie.

Written and directed by James Gunn, the upcoming film stars David Dastmalchian, John Cena, Jai Courtney, Joaquín Cosío, Nathan Fillion, Joel Kinnaman, Mayling Ng, Flula Borg, Sean Gunn, Juan Diego Botto, Storm Reid, Pete Davidson, Taika Waititi, Alice Braga, Steve Agee, Tinashe Kajese, Daniela Melchior, Peter Capaldi, Julio Ruiz, Jennifer Holland, Viola Davis, Idris Elba, Margot Robbie, and Michael Rooker.

The Suicide Squad will be released in theaters on August 6, 2021.
