James Gunn Doubts Vin Diesel Will Join ‘Inhumans’ TV Series

Find out what Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn had to say about Vin Diesel possibly suiting up as Black Bolt in Marvel's The Inhumans.

As you may have heard, Marvel Television recently announced that an Inhumans television series is coming to ABC. This new series — which will air on the network after making its debut in IMAX theaters next year– will run for eight episodes and follow Black Bolt and the royal family, but that’s pretty much everything we know so far about it.

The Inhumans were initially supposed to make their big screen debut in November 2018 as part of Marvel’s Phase 3, but the project was later pushed back to July 2019 and eventually removed from Disney’s release schedule. Vin Diesel — who just so happens to be the voice of Groot in the Marvel Cinematic Universe — has had his eye on playing Black Bolt in this project for quite a while now, but now that it’s heading to television instead his possible involvement seems more unlikely than ever.

During a recent Q&A on Facebook, Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn was asked whether or not Diesel will suit up as Black Bolt in the upcoming TV series, but Gunn’s response makes it clear that he doesn’t think that’s going to be the case:

“The Inhumans is going to be a TV show. Unless Vin wants to take a huge pay cut and sign up to do a TV show it seems unlikely.”

There’s obviously still a very small chance that Diesel could star in the series, but he probably wouldn’t want to commit to a project that would keep him busy for months. I’d say that you should expect to learn more about this new Inhumans series soon, but don’t get your hopes up about Diesel being part of it. What do you guys think?
