The Suicide Squad‘s cast has been assembling rather quickly as of late, with big names like Nathan Fillion and Taika Waititi joining the ensemble. As such, there are a number of scammers looking to get financial and personal information from a number of movie extras and small-name actors looking for work.
However, not only are these scams legally-questionable, but they also get into an apparent pet peeve that James Gunn has – using the wrong title. So, Jame Gunn is setting the record straight by saying that his movie is The Suicide Squad, not Suicide Squad 2, and any casting call asking for actors for Suicide Squad 2 can automatically be deemed a fake:
If Warner Bros. and DC Films are looking for actors and extras, there are more official avenues for them to do so. So don’t fall for scams like this, and remember: the movie is called The Suicide Squad!
The first Suicide Squad followed a team of supervillains who were recruited by the government for a dangerous black ops mission in exchange for reduced sentences. The ensemble cast included Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and Jared Leto as The Joker. James Gunn is expected to deliver on the fresh take on the supervillain team in his upcoming movie, with Idris Elba playing a new character, Jai Courtney reprising his role as Captain Boomerang, Joel Kinnaman playing Rick Flag again, David Dastmalchian starring as Polka-Dot Man, and Viola Davis returning as Amanda Waller. John Cena, Nathan Fillion, and Taika Waititi are reportedly in talks for an undisclosed roles, with Steve Agee voicing King Shark.
James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad is one of many projects currently being developed by Warner Bros. and DC. These projects include The Batman, The Flash, Birds of Prey, Black Adam, Supergirl and New Gods.
James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad will be released in theaters on August 6, 2021. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on Nathan Fillion, James Gunn and The Suicide Squad as we learn it!
