For better or worse, Zack Snyder is set to direct the two Justice League movies, meaning that he has plenty of creative control over the DC Extended Universe. However, following the release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, quite a few fans are now worried that he may not be the right guy for the job after all due to the negative critical response to the movie, but it’s clear that he’s not going anywhere for now.
One of the many DC comics adaptations that are currently slated to hit the big screen in the next few years is Aquaman, which will be directed by James Wan. Over the weekend, the filmmaker made an appearance at Wondercon in Los Angeles, where he was asked by Cinemablend about Zack Snyder’s influence over the project. Here’s what the director told the site:
“Well, I think the story that I would like to tell is still at the end of the day my story. And that’s what’s cool with Zack, is that he’s actually very respectful of that. He’s actually helping me out in some ways with certain things that he’s doing with his [films] so that I can have better groundwork with the standalone Aquaman story.”
Wan recently said that he’s planning to take a different approach to the character and that his main goal is to deliver a fun movie. While it does sound like Snyder has a voice in the matter, it’s quite clear that Wan will be able to tell his own story with Aquaman, despite the fact that he’s probably going to have to make a few adjustments along the way to make the movie fit into the larger universe. What do you guys think?
