The film is currently scheduled to go up against another superhero film, the untitled animated Spider-Man movie featuring Miles Morales. Originally, the elusive Avatar sequel was set to be released on this date – only to be delayed yet again.
Given the fact that Aquaman will now be released during the most wonderful time of the year, James Wan playfully responded to this fact by giving fans an early holiday greeting on his Twitter account:
“Merry Christmas”
Merry Christmas indeed, James. Production for the new film is expected to begin this summer. Wan’s filmmaking talents are unique in this day and age. Knowing his sensibilities in the horror genre, it’s going to be fascinating to see how he implements that into the world of Atlantis. Also, now that he has had experience in the big budget blockbusters with Furious 7, this next step is both encouraging and intriguing.
Aquaman will splash into theaters on December 21, 2018. Meanwhile, you can see Jason Momoa and Amber Heard in Justice League when it opens in theaters on November 17, 2017.
