Jared Leto is in talks to star as Angelo Mortalli in Sony Pictures' adaptation of the comic book Bloodshot from Valiant Entertainment.
Leto is negotiating for the role of the Bloodshot protagonist Angelo Mortalli, a ruthless hired gun for the mob who is set up and framed for a murder by the family. Mortalli goes into witness protection but is ultimately betrayed by the FBI forced into an experimental program where he is injected with nanites that erase his brain and rebuild his body to be a weapon with superhuman strength and healing powers.
Dave Wilson is set to direct the project with Neil Moritz producing alongside Toby Jaffe through the Original Films banner and by Valiant’s Dinesh Shamdasani with Matthew Vaughn and Jason Kothari serving as exec producers.
Bloodshot will be the second film in a five-picture deal Sony has with Valiant and DMG. The first being Harbinger which is being written by Justin Tipping and Joshua Beirne-Golden. The plan is for each movie to get a sequel before the characters cross over in Harbinger Wars.
In addition to Harbinger and Bloodshot, Valiant also has an adaptation of Shadowman in development with House Party director Reginald Hudlin. Sean Daniel and Jason Brown of The Sean Daniel Company are set to produce the feature film adaptation with Valiant Entertainment’s Dinesh Shamdasani. The project will first be developed in-house by Hudlin and Salem showrunner Adam Simon before being shopped to studios.
