Jared Leto Joins ‘Blade Runner’ Sequel

Our new Joker has joined another project. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Academy Award-winner and Suicide Squad actor Jared Leto has joined the cast of the upcoming sequel to Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner. This film is being directed by Denis Villeneuve, and stars Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, Dave Bautista, Ana De Armas, Mackenzie Davis, and Barkhad Abdi.

The sequel is set to take place decades after the original 1982 classic which was based off of the Philip K. Dick novel, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? This will be the second sci-fi entry in a row for Villeneuve, whose newest film Arrival starring Amy Adams is set for release later this year.

It’s fascinating to see Leto join a film with Gosling knowing that they were both considered for a role in Suicide Squad. Many reports claimed that Gosling was considered for the Joker role that Leto eventually signed on for. The addition of Leto only adds more to this incredible ensemble and really broadens the world-building that the original film brought back in the 1980’s.

What do you guys think of Jared Leto joining the Blade Runner sequel? What kind of character do you think he’s going to play? Sound off in the comments below.
