Jared Leto’s future as the Joker is uncertain as Warner Bros. moves forward with their DC films. Joaquin Phoenix will play the Joker in a standalone film, while Harley Quinn is set to reprise her role in both Birds of Prey and James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. Jared Leto is already set to portray another comic book character in Spider-Man villain Morbius. However, Birds of Prey set photos did reveal a stand-in for Jared Leto’s Joker, who may appear in the film. Jared Leto’s Joker look was divisive among fans, in large part due to the tattoos, which have now been removed in new fan art.

Full details on the Birds of Prey plot are currently unknown. The film is said to center on Huntress, Black Canary, and Harley Quinn joining forces to protect Cassandra Cain when she comes into the possession of a diamond belonging to a criminal kingpin known as Black Mask.
Directed by Cathy Yan from a script penned by Bumblebee writer Christina Hodson, Birds of Prey stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary, Ella Jay Basco as Cassandra Cain, Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya, Chris Messina as Victor Zsasz, Ewan, McGregor as Black Mask, and Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. Ali Wong, Robert Catrini, and Michael Masini have also been cast in undisclosed roles.
Birds of Prey will be released in theaters on February 7, 2020.
