Jared Leto’s Joker Will Have A Different Look In ‘Justice League’

Damaged no more?

Zack Snyder has revealed that Jared Leto will be sporting a brand new look as Joker in the upcoming Justice League miniseries coming to HBO Max next year.

The surprising news came weeks ago that Zack Snyder was not only doing reshoots for his Justice League cut, but that Jared Leto will be reprising his role as Joker from Suicide Squad for them as well. Leto’s Joker in Suicide Squad was controversial to say the least in large part because of his appearance. Rest assured, Snyder not only confirmed that Leto will return as The Joker, but revealed during a recent appearance on Beyond The Trailer that he will also have a brand new look in his Justice League cut:

“It is true. I wanted to of course honor what had been created with him because I thought it was really cool; but also in this, I’m not going to tell you what happens in the little scene, but some water has gone under the proverbial bridge between when last we saw Joker and this appearance. So he’s made some…he’s a road-weary Joker, I guess that’s a way of saying it.”

The news of Jared Leto returning as Joker was a shock to many due to reports that the Academy Award winner was disappointed with Warner Bros. moving forward with the solo film starring Joaquin Phoenix. Later on in the interview, Zack Snyder touched on how he convinced Leto to return as The Joker for Justice League:

“I will say that he was really gracious with his entertaining my idea and I told him it was a thing that I had felt like even when I was working on Justice League in London I felt like was an inevitable course that the movie had to take. So when I told him it was a thing that I’d been kicking around in my head for quite a while I feel like he just kinda warmed up to the idea that was kind of an inevitable thing that kinda of has to happen. I am grateful and I am forever in debt to his kindness for doing it.”

But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
