Jason Momoa Inspired Emilia Clarke To Fight ‘Game Of Thrones’ Nudity

Emilia Clarke says Jason Momoa helped her get through Game of Thrones nude scenes and inspired her to take charge.

In Game of Thrones, there are several nude scenes with Emilia Clarke and a lot of them in season one are with Jason Momoa. However, Emilia Clarke later demanded that there be less scenes with her naked as the series continued. While Game of Thrones became known for all of the sex and violence early on in the show’s run, the amount of nudity decreased as the series progressed into the final seasons beyond Emilia Clarke.

On Dax Shepard’s “Armchair Expert” podcast Emilia Clarke admits she still gets asked to do sex scenes after everything she did on Game of Thrones:

“I’m a lot savvier with what I’m comfortable with, and what I am okay with doing. I’ve had fights on set before where I’m like, ‘No, the sheet stays up,’ and they’re like, ‘You don’t wanna disappoint your ‘Game of Thrones’ fans.’ And I’m like, ‘F–you.’ I feel like I’ve seen enough now to know what is actually needed.”

Emilia Clarke later said that Jason Momoa helped her get through the Game of Thrones nude scenes in the first season. Emilia Clarke also credits Jason Momoa for inspiring her to stand up for herself in the later seasons:

“It’s only now that I realize how fortunate I was with that, because that could have gone many, many, many different ways. Because Jason had experience, he had done a bunch of stuff before coming on to this, he was like, ‘Sweetie, this is how it’s meant to be and this is how it’s not meant to be, and I’m going to make sure that’s the way it goes. He was so kind and considerate and cared about me as a human being. He took care of me, he really did. In an environment where I didn’t know I needed to be taken care of.”

Game of Thrones stars Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as Jaime Lannister, Lena Headey as Cersei Lannister, Kit Harington as Jon Snow, Emilia Clarke as Daenerys Targaryen, Liam Cunningham as Ser Davos Seaworth, Carice van Houten as Melisandre, Rory McCann as Sandor “The Hound” Clegane, Maisie Williams as Arya Stark, Conleth Hill as Varys, Alfie Allen as Theon Greyjoy, John Bradley as Samwell Tarly, Gwendoline Christie as Brienne of Tarth, Kristofer Hivju as Tormund Giantsbane, Isaac Hempstead Wright as Bran Stark, Jerome Flynn as Bronn, Iain Glen as Jorah Mormont, Hannah Murray as Gilly and Jason Momoa as Khal Drogo. The series was showrun by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss across all eight seasons.

All episodes of Game of Thrones are available to stream on HBO GO.
