Jason Momoa Says He Can’t Do ‘Aquaman’ 2 Due To TMT Construction

Jason Momoa is protesting the Thirty Meter Telescope construction atop Hawaii’s Mauna Kea volcano and using the highly-anticipated Aquaman sequel to do so.

Jason Momoa has taken to social media in order to protest the Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT) construction atop the Mauna Kea volcano in Hawaii. And the actor may be threatening the production of Aquaman 2 to do so. In an Instagram post, Jason Momoa told Warner Brothers:

“Sorry Warner Bros we can’t shoot Aquaman 2. Because Jason got run over by a bulldozer trying to stop the desecration of his native land THIS iS NOT HAPPENING.”

The construction of the Thirty Meter Telescope has been the center of recent controversy, causing a large protest in order to protect the realm of the gods that lay atop of Hawaii’s Mauna Kea volcano. This isn’t the first time that Jason Momoa has spoken out against the construction, the Aquaman star has been a top advocate against it from the beginning. Even Black Adam actor Dwayne Johnson recently came out against the construction. But even though this is a very serious topic, we shouldn’t take the Aquaman actor too seriously as he is contractually obligated to reprise his role as the aquatic hero.

Last month, photos featuring a shirtless Jason Momoa on vacation with his family surfaced online. The images lead to some saying that the Aquaman actor had lost his superhero shape, sporting instead what they called a “dad bod.”

Others were quick to defend Jason Momoa against these body-shaming trolls, but it appears the Aquaman star wasn’t bothered by the comments at all. TMZ asked Jason Momoa about his recent surprise birthday celebration earlier this week, noting the Guinness Ale-flavored cake wouldn’t do much to silence the trolls. When asked if he was offended over the “dad bod” comments, Jason Momoa replied, “Not at all.”

David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick is currently writing a sequel to Jason Momoa’s Aquaman. It’s set to hit theaters on December 16, 2022. Jason Momoa will reprise his role as the titular hero, but fans can relive the first Aquaman film on all home media formats.

Here’s the official synopsis for Jason Momoa’s Aquaman:
