Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who played Thomas Wayne in 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' says he would like to play Flashpoint Batman sometime down the line.
Does that version of Batman sound like one you’d like to see on the big screen? Yeah, me too. The actor who plays Thomas Wayne, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, thinks it would certainly be cool. Thomas Wayne appeared briefly at the beginning of Dawn of Justice as the film once again recreated the infamous death scene of Bruce Wayne’s parents, but that doesn’t mean he can’t come back to assist Barry Allen in a different timeline.
CinemaBlend sat down with Jeffrey Dean Morgan to talk about his career, and among other things the idea of him playing Batman came up. He first admitted he didn’t know what role he was going to even be playing until he arrived in Chicago to shoot his scenes. Then, the idea was brought up of his character being featured in a Flashpoint movie:
“Maybe when he cast me that was kind of the goal. Hopefully DC can figure this all out, and in a few years I can come back and do a Flashpoint Batman! I would love it. That would be great.”
The Flashpoint Paradox story-arc was loosely played out on the CW’s The Flash TV show, but it left out about 97% of the comic accurate elements, leaving them still wide open for an eventual feature film. Although “big talks” have never taken place about Flashpoint, Morgan recalls a time back when he and Zack Snyder were both working on Watchmen, and Snyder was just birthing the idea of doing Batman on the big screen. According to Morgan, Snyder even said he would have been perfect for the role all the way back then:
“I have not had any big discussions with him about [Flashpoint], but I remember when we were in Australia doing Watchmen press, and I was having dinner with Zack or whatever. And he was like, ‘My dream is to do the Frank Miller Batman.’ And he goes, ‘You would be an awesome Batman.’ The darker version.”
Snyder got his chance to bring Batman to the big screen, so will he also get his chance to feature Jeffrey Dean Morgan as the darker Thomas Wayne? Was casting Morgan as Thomas this early on specifically so he could be brought back for the role of the super violent Batman? Do you even think Morgan is the right guy for the job? Make sure to let us know what you think down in the comments.
