The Walking Dead's Negan actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan spoke about playing darker characters, restating that he would love to play the darker version of Batman.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan is known for playing darker characters, such as The Walking Dead‘s Negan and The Comedian from Zack Snyder’s Watchmen among others. He’s gained a lot of credibility with the superhero and comic niche, so when he mentioned the idea of playing Thomas Wayne’s version of Batman, the internet lost their minds.
While at Walker Stalker Con, Jeffrey Dean Morgan spoke about playing darker characters in general, restating that he would love to play the darker version of Batman.
“Zack and I go back to Watchmen days. So I’ve got a little bit of relationship with the DC losers. He called me a year before we shot that… I met Lauren. It was great. I still see Lauren. It was great and yeah, is there another plan for that Thomas Wayne character? We’ll see. I don’t know. I would love to be the dark Batman. That’s the darkest Batman there is. God knows I embrace the darkness.”
Jeffrey Dean Morgan then went on to talk about arguably the darkest character he’s had the opportunity to play, Negan, and compared him to what it would be like to play Flashpoint Batman.
“Flashpoint Batman would be like doing a comedy compared to being Negan.”
When you put the two characters side by side, he does have a valid point. Thomas Wayne might be dark, but he is like a walk in the park compared to Negan, who is best known for beating innocent people over the head with a spiked bat. At least Flashpoint Batman is still, technically, a hero. If Jeffrey Dean Morgan can play Negan as well as he is, then playing Flashpoint Batman should come naturally. And if the DCEU knew what they had, they would be getting on producing a Flashpoint movie asap.
