Jeffrey Wright Eyed For Commissioner Gordon In Robert Pattinson’s ‘The Batman’

Westworld actor Jeffrey Wright is being eyed to play the next live-action Commissioner Gordon opposite Robert Pattinson in The Batman.

News on The Batman has been pretty nonexistent since the announcement that Robert Pattinson is the new Caped Crusader. Robert Pattinson was recently on a press run for his upcoming film The Lighthouse and even he has been mum on the Matt Reeves film. Last month, there were rumors that Pierce Brosnan would play Alfred Pennyworth in The Batman, but they turned out to be false.

Now, we have official news on who Matt Reeves is eyeing to play Commissioner Gordon opposite Robert Pattinson in The Batman. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jeffrey Wright is being eyed to play Commissioner Gordon in The Batman. Jeffrey Wright is no stranger to comic book roles as the actor is set to play The Watcher on the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe series What If…? on Disney Plus. No offers have been made yet, but if Jeffrey Wright lands the role, he’ll join a long line of legendary actors who have played Bruce Wayne’s ally.

What do you think of Jeffrey Wright playing the next Commissioner Gordon? Do you think he’s the right fit for Robert Pattinson’s Batman? Let us know in the comments section!

Details for the Robert Pattinson-led Batman project are being kept under lock and key. Previous rumors once pointed to an earlier version of the script featuring Ben Affleck bookending the film as his current Batman while the film introduced Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader in his earlier years. But with Ben Affleck officially retired from the role, Robert Pattinson is replacing the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League star as Batman.

We know that The Batman will center around a younger Bruce Wayne and feature a Rogues’ Gallery of villains that reportedly includes Catwoman and The Penguin. Director Matt Reeves has also confirmed that it will not be directly based on Frank Miller’s acclaimed Year One comic and will make use of the Caped Crusader’s detective skills to a greater extent than previous DC Films. It is expected to be the first chapter in a new movie trilogy with Robert Pattinson as Batman.

Matt Reeves’ The Batman is one of the many projects currently being developed by Warner Bros. and DC. These projects include The Flash standalone film, Green Lantern CorpsBlack AdamThe Suicide SquadSupergirlNew Gods, and Birds of Prey.

The Batman is set to hit theaters on June 25, 2021. Stay tuned for the latest news on Jeffrey Wright, Commissioner Gordon, Robert Pattinson and the future of the DC Extended Universe!
