Jeffrey Wright Begins Work On Matt Reeves ‘The Batman’

It appears that Jeffrey Wright has begun work on Matt Reeves’ The Batman.

Westworld star Jeffrey Wrightjeffr will be playing Commissioner Gordon in the upcoming The Batman, which will star Robert Pattinson as the titular character. Jeffrey Wright is the latest actor to take on the supporting role of Commissioner Gordon, a character who was previously played by J.K. Simmons in Justice League. Best known for his roles in the James Bond series and Westworld, Jeffrey Wright is one of the most exciting names to be joining Matt Reeves’ The Batman, which is set to be a more detective-driven story.

Posting on his Twitter account, The Batman star Jeffrey Wright confirmed that he’s off to Gotham, implying that he has started working on the highly-anticipated DC Comics movie. You can check out Jeffrey Wright’s tweet below.

 

If we’re to go by Jeffrey Wright’s tweet, filming for Matt Reeves’ The Batman has begun or will begin shortly, as massive sets have been built in the United Kingdom and Robert Pattinson has confirmed that he’s been rehearsing in London. With the new year, we’re sure to get more information on Matt Reeves’ The Batman and hopefully a look at Robert Pattinson’s Batman suit.

Full plot details for The Batman are currently under wraps, though the film will center around a younger Bruce Wayne and features a Rogues’ Gallery of villains that includes Catwoman, The Penguin, and The Riddler. The Matt Reeves film will follow Batman during his formative years as Gotham City’s protector and will make use of the Dark Knight’s detective skills to a greater extent than previous DC films. It is expected to be the first chapter in a new trilogy with Robert Pattinson as Batman.

Directed by Matt Reeves from a script he co-wrote with Mattson Tomlin, The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, Jayme Lawson as Bella, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Peter Sarsgaard. Recently, Colin Farrell was reportedly in talks to play the Penguin.

The Batman will be released in theaters on June 25, 2021.
