Two-time Academy Award-nominee Jeremy Renner has been honored by Forbes as 2017's Best Actor For The Buck for his recent success in Hollywood.
Forbes has honored Jeremy Renner as 2017’s Best Actor For The Buck, an honor that is “filled with stars whose pay pales in comparison to their recent box office performances.” Forbes compiles their actor/actress rundown by looking at candidates’ three films released before June 1, 2017 (this excludes animated films, films where respective actor/actress has a small role and films released to under 2,000 screens). Forbes then deducts the estimated production budget on the three films and divides that by the actor/actress’ estimated pay to come up with a return on investment figure.
The three films that propelled Jeremy Renner to earning this honor were Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, Captain America: Civil War and Arrival. Renner has been involved with both the Mission: Impossible franchise and the MCU since 2011, having appeared in both Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol and Thor. While box office success was expected and inevitable for both franchises, the acclaimed sci-fi film Arrival grossed $203.4 million worldwide on a $47 million budget.
Along with his work in blockbuster fare, Jeremy Renner is also one of the most revered performers in the industry today. This year, Renner has received acclaim for his performance in the film Wind River alongside his fellow Avengers co-star. Some of Renner’s other credits include The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, 28 Weeks Later, The Bourne Legacy, American Hustle and Kill the Messenger.
Jeremy Renner will reprise his role as Clint Barton/Hawkeye in Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War and is currently shooting the untitled fourth Avengers film. Due to his commitment to the MCU, Renner will not appear in Mission: Impossible 6.
