Disney Debunks Rumored Delay For Jeremy Renner’s ‘Hawkeye’ Series

Disney has debunked the rumors regarding Jeremy Renner’s upcoming Hawkeye series facing a production delay.

At San Diego Comic-Con, it was revealed that Jeremy Renner would be getting his own solo Hawkeye series for Disney Plus. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige also announced that Hawkeye will feature the Marvel Cinematic Universe debut of Kate Bishop and be inspired by Matt Fraction’s comic book run. It has also been reported that Bumblebee star Hailee Steinfeld has the offer to play Kate Bishop opposite Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton.

Over the weekend, a report made the rounds from Murphy’s Multiverse that Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye Disney Plus series was delayed indefinitely and removed from Marvel Studios’ 2020 production schedule. Today, that report has been debunked by Disney after The Verge’s Julia Alexander reached out and shared the following on Twitter:

“Disney contacts have vehemently denied it, calling it completely inaccurate.”

Full details on Hawkeye are currently under wraps, though the Disney Plus series will follow Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton as he prepares to pass the mantle to Kate Bishop. In the comics, Kate Bishop is the third character and first woman to assume the Hawkeye name.

Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye is just one of the many projects Marvel Studios is developing for Disney Plus. These projects include The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, WandaVision, Loki, What If…?, Hawkeye, Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, and She-Hulk.

Hawkeye is currently scheduled to premiere on Disney Plus in Fall 2021.
