Jeremy Renner Originally Had A Deal With Marvel For A ‘Hawkeye’ Movie

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige revealed Jeremy Renner originally had a deal for a Hawkeye film.

While Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye declared his intentions to retire after the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron, circumstances have forced the archer back into the field on multiple occasions. Most recently, Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye was one of the heroes who survived Thanos’ decimation and embarked on a successful time-heist to undo the Mad Titan’s actions in Avengers: Endgame.

Now, it appears Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye is prepared to pass the mantle to a successor in new series for Disney Plus. Scheduled to be released on the streaming platform in late 2021, the Hawkeye series is just one of the many projects Marvel Studios is developing for Disney Plus.

However, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige told Bloomberg that Jeremy Renner initially had a deal to star in a feature film centered on Hawkeye. When the decision was made to turn the Hawkeye project into a miniseries, Kevin Feige explained that Jeremy Renner was fine with the change, saying “He totally got it and said, ‘Let’s do it.'”

Full details on Hawkeye are currently under wraps, though the Disney Plus series will follow Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton as he prepares to pass the mantle to Kate Bishop. In the comics, Kate Bishop is the third character and first woman to assume to the Hawkeye name.

Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye is just one of the many projects Marvel Studios is developing for Disney Plus. These projects include The Falcon and the Winter SoldierWandaVisionLokiWhat If…?, HawkeyeMs. MarvelMoon Knight, and She-Hulk.

Hawkeye is currently scheduled to premiere on Disney Plus in Fall 2021.
