Here’s What Jim Carrey Looks Like As ‘Sonic The Hedgehog’ Villain Dr. Robotnik

Jim Carrey is taking on the villainous role of Dr. Ivo “Eggman” Robotnik in the upcoming live-action video game adaptation of the hit SEGA franchise Sonic the Hedgehog, and a new piece of fan art imagines what his take on the mad scientist could look like.

Westworld actor James Marsden stars in the film along with Ben Schwartz who provides the voice for the film’s Sonic. The first official look at Carrey in the role of Dr. Robotnik has yet to be revealed, however, Carrey has assured fans his take on the antagonist will be live-action, rather than a CGI version of the video game character like the titular Hedgehog.

A new piece of fan art gives fans a great idea of what they can expect from Carrey’s villain, should his look remain true to the design seen in the video games. Check it out below!

The Sonic the Hedgehog film will follow Small-town sheriff Tom Wachowski and Sonic as they embark on a road trip to San Francisco in a race to recover the blue hedgehog’s rings before the villainous Dr. Robotnik.

Directed by Jeff Fowler from a script written by Patrick Casey, Josh Miller, and Oren Uziel, Sonic the Hedgehog features the voices talent of Ben Schwartz as the titular character and stars James Marsden as sheriff Tom Wachowski, Tika Sumpter as Mrs. Wachowski, Lee Majdoub as Stone, Frank C. Turner as Crazy Carl, and Jim Carrey as Dr. Ivo Robotnik. Adam Pally, Natasha Rothwell, Neal McDonough, Debs Howard, and Elfina Luk also star in undisclosed roles.

Sonic the Hedgehog is scheduled to be released in theaters on November 8, 2019.
