Grant Gustin's Barry Allen gave Ezra Miller's 'The Flash' something important in the Arrowverse crossover.

During a DC FanDome panel looking at the multiverse, Jim Lee revealed Ezra Miller’s The Flash was given his iconic name by Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen

The DC FanDome panel about the multiverse offered up some fascinating nuggets of information about the state of the movies and TV shows that bring some of the most iconic characters to life. But iconic DC figure Jim Lee revealed that Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen gave Ezra Miller’s The Flash something very important when the cinematic star cameoed in the most recent Arrowverse crossover.

Jim Lee revealed that when Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen briefly met Grant Gustin’s version of the hero, the TV speedster actually gave the cinematic hero his iconic moniker: The Flash. Before then, the cinematic Barry Allen didn’t use a codename, but it seems like he will when it comes to his solo movie which will also star Ben Affleck’s Batman. Take a look at Jim Lee discussing Ezra Miller getting The Flash codename in the quote below.

“Ezra’s Flash was never named “The Flash” in the movies. He got his name from meeting Grant… That’s so cool to have that introduction into the canon!”

Directed by Andy Muschietti from a script written by Birds of Prey scribe Christina Hodson, The Flash will be inspired by the Flashpoint comic storyline which followed The Flash as he navigated an altered DC Universe. Written by Geoff Johns and penciled by Andy Kuber, Flashpoint radically altered the status of the DC Comics universe and led to the launch of the New 52 titles. It is currently unknown how much inspiration the upcoming Ezra Miller film will take from the comic.

The Flash is set to hit theaters on June 3rd, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news on The Flash and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more exclusive video content.
