J.J. Abrams Honors ‘Star Wars’ Actor Andrew Jack In New Message

Director JJ Abrams remembers Star Wars actor Andrew Jack in a message fondly remembering working with the star.

After the recent news that Star Wars actor Andrew Jack passed away due to the coronavirus, director JJ Abrams took to Twitter to honor the star with a fond message. Jack appeared as General Ematt in The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. Ematt is part of the Alliance standing up to the First Order in the new trilogy, and director JJ Abrams revealed how Jack came to appear in the films.

In his note that he posted to Twitter, JJ Abrams explained that Jack was originally a dialect coach on The Force Awakens, but because he was so handsome the director and the producers decided to cast him in a small role. Abrams also mentioned that Jack was lovely to work with, calling him brilliant before saying he’ll be missed. JJ Abrams signed off the note by telling fans to stay safe amid the current pandemic.
