J. J. Abrams Says ‘The Rise Of Skywalker’ Gives ‘Cohesive’ Ending To All 9 ‘Star Wars’ Films

J. J. Abrams discussed how The Rise of Skywalker will bring all 9 chapters of the main Star Wars saga to a proper conclusion.

After passing directing duties to Rian Johnson for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, J. J. Abrams will return to close out Disney and Lucasfilm’s sequel trilogy with the release of The Rise of Skywalker. However, The Rise of Skywalker is not only set to conclude the new trilogy of Star Wars films, but it will also mark the end of the saga that began with the first installment of the franchise in 1977.

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, J. J. Abrams commented on the daunting task of bringing the Star Wars saga to a close. As J. J. Abrams explained, Star: Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will provide a cohesive ending to all nine chapters of the main saga:

“This is about bringing this thing to a close in a way that is emotional and meaningful and also satisfying in terms of actually answering [as many] questions as possible. So if years from now, someone’s watching these movies, all nine of them, they’re watching a story that is as cohesive as possible.”
