Joaquin Phoenix Gets ‘Batman: Arkham Asylum’ Joker Look & It’s Incredible

In November 2018, William Gray unveiled fan art featuring Joaquin Phoenix with the Batman: Arkham Asylum design for the Joker.

This fall, director Todd Phillips will offer audiences a new take on the Joker and Joaquin Phoenix will be the latest actor the bring the classic Batman villain to life. While Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker will have a slightly different but recognizable look as the Clown Prince of Crime, digital artist William Gray has created a new image that imagines the villain with the same design from the Batman: Arkham Asylum video game.

“Joker” centers around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen. Phillips’ exploration of Arthur Fleck (Phoenix), a man disregarded by society, is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale.

Directed by Todd Phillips from a script he co-wrote with Scott Silver, Joker stars Joaquin Phoenix, Zazie Beetz, Bill Camp, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen, Glenn Fleshler, Douglas Hodge, Marc Maron, Josh Pais, and Shea Whigham.

Joker will be released in theaters on October 4, 2019.
