This comes from the Instagram account of Uncanny Comic Quest in a post that appears to feature cell phone footage recorded on the set of the upcoming Joker film. The user is just outside of an interior shoot. The lighting inside is dingey and you can only make out the silhouettes of the cast and crew. If you listen closely to the video, however, you can hear the unmistakable cackles of what could definitely be the Joker.
If this is indeed the laugh Joaquin Phoenix will use as Joker, it is definitely an unsettling one. From the poor quality in the video, the laugh sounds more like it should be coming from a creepy baby doll and not a living, breathing person. It will send goosebumps down your arm and that is exactly what the Joker’s laugh should do.
Hear the laugh for yourself in the aforementioned video below:
What do you make of this laugh? Do you hope that this is the laugh from Joaquin Phoenix and Todd Phillips’s Joker? Let us know your impressions in the comments below!
“Joker” centers around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen. Phillips’ exploration of Arthur Fleck (Phoenix), a man disregarded by society, is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale.
Directed by Todd Phillips from a script he co-wrote with Scott Silver, Joker stars Joaquin Phoenix, Zazie Beetz, Bill Camp, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen, Glenn Fleshler, Douglas Hodge, Marc Maron, Josh Pais, Shea Whigham, and Robert De Niro.
Joker will be released in theaters on October 4, 2019.
