Report: Script For Joaquin Phoenix’s ‘Joker’ Was Rewritten Daily On Set

With a leaked version floating around, the actual script for Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker was reportedly rewritten “nearly every morning on set.”

Joker is already getting considerable buzz prior to its screenings at upcoming film festivals. Many are already raving about Joaquin Phoenix’s performance with some saying he is a lock for an Oscar nomination. While it may be too early to tell, based on the first trailer, Joker is definitely taking a different approach to comic book movies that is more in line with Logan.

Despite all the early positive buzz, some claim to have seen the Joker script and have come out and said how controversial the film will be when it comes out. Zazie Beetz has said in the past that the Todd Phillips’ script was rewritten daily and a new tweet from Collider’s Jeff Sneider backs that up. Jeff Sneider said the following in regards to the script for the Joaquin Phoenix-led Joker:

“JOKER looks awesome. But don’t bother tracking down the script and making proclamations/judgments off of that, since a VERY well-placed source tells me it was rewritten nearly every morning on set. Don’t read too much into that either. Happens more than you’d think. I can’t wait!”

Are you okay with  Joker potentially making major changes to the Batman mythos? Do you think Joaquin Phoenix could be nominated for Best Actor at the Oscars? Sound off in the comments below!

Here is the official synopsis for Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker:

“Joker” centers around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen. Phillips’ exploration of Arthur Fleck (Phoenix), a man disregarded by society, is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale.

Opening in theaters on October 4, 2019, Joker stars Joaquin Phoenix, Zazie Beetz, Frances Conroy, Marc Maron, Brett Cullen, Bryan Callen, and Robert De Niro. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for more updates on the project!
