‘Joker’ Photo Reveals New Look At Joaquin Phoenix In Subway Chase Scene

A new image gives us a fresh look at Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker in the upcoming standalone film from director Todd Phillips.

Joaquin Phoenix is set to make his debut as the Clown Prince of Crime in Joker this October. Last fall, set videos, and set photos emerged, giving us a look at Joaquin Phoenix in full Joker makeup during the filming of several key sequences on a subway platform including a massive riot scene, as well as a chase scene in which Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker is pursued by the Gotham City police department.

The new image features a brand new look at Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker in what appears to be the subway chase scene. You can check it out below!

Official plot details are still under wraps but the Joker origin film starring Joaquin Phoenix is to be a gritty and grounded crime film set in 1980s Gotham City, separate from DC’s current shared cinematic universe in an effort to create new and unique storylines as the studio expands DC canon.

The story will feature Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck: a failed 1980s comedian who becomes The Joker after bombing with audiences, a deliberate nod to Martin Scorsese’s 1982 film The King of Comedy about a delusional comedian. The film has been officially described by the studio as an “exploration of a man disregarded by society [that] is not only a gritty character study but also a broader cautionary tale.”

Are you excited to see Joaquin Phoenix’s take on The Joker in the upcoming film? Do you think Joaquin Phoenix was a good pick to play The Joker? Let us know in the comments below!

Directed by Todd Phillips from a script he co-wrote with Scott Silver, Joker stars Joaquin Phoenix, Zazie Beetz, Bill Camp, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen, Glenn Fleshler, Douglas Hodge, Marc Maron, Josh Pais, and Shea Whigham.

“Joker” centers around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen. Phillips’ exploration of Arthur Fleck (Phoenix), a man disregarded by society, is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale.

Joker will be released in theaters on October 4, 2019, which will be followed by Wonder Woman 1984 on June 5, 2020.

Joker is one of the many projects in the works at Warner Bros. and DC Films, including The Batman, The Flash standalone film, Green Lantern Corps, Black Adam, Supergirl, New GodsBatgirl, and Birds of Prey.

Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on the new Joker movie featuring Joaquin Phoenix in the starring role as well as the future of the DC slate as we learn it.
