Earlier this week a number of images for Joaquin Phoneix’s upcoming Joker film were released through Total Film. This also happened to include one of the covers for the upcoming Total Film magazine. In it, we saw two different versions of Joaquin Phoenix’s character. We see the seemingly normal Arthur Fleck who is shadowed by a seemingly more insane version of himself with the Joker makeup in the background:
Interestingly enough another cover from Total Film has been revealed. It sadly doesn’t give us any new information about Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker film but it does contain another unsettling cover. In it, the majority of Joaquin Phoneix’s face is without makeup. However, a good portion of it is, giving us a hit as to what is instore for Arthur Fleck.
You can see the Total Film cover below:
What do you all make of these images? Which Total Film cover of Joaquin Phonix’s Joker do you think does the character justice? Sound off in the comments below!
Here is the official synopsis for Joker:
Director Todd Phillips “Joker” centers around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone fictional story not seen before on the big screen. Phillips’ exploration of Arthur Fleck, who is indelibly portrayed by Joaquin Phoenix, is of a man struggling to find his way in Gotham’s fractured society. A clown-for-hire by day, he aspires to be a stand-up comic at night…but finds the joke always seems to be on him. Caught in a cyclical existence between apathy and cruelty, Arthur makes one bad decision that brings about a chain reaction of escalating events in this gritty character study.
Directed by Todd Phillips from a script he co-wrote with Scott Silver, Joker stars Joaquin Phoenix, Zazie Beetz, Bill Camp, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen, Glenn Fleshler, Douglas Hodge, Marc Maron, Josh Pais, and Shea Whigham.
Joker will be released in theaters on October 4, 2019.
