DC Entertainment president and chief creative officer Geoff Johns has revealed that True Blood star Joe Manganiello will play Slade Wilson a.k.a. Deathstroke in Ben Affleck’s Batman movie. Johns officially confirmed Manganiello’s casting in a recent interview with The Wall Street Journal.
Affleck, who’s currently shooting Justice League in London, shared a video of the villain on his personal Twitter page last week. The actor has been working on the script of his standalone Batman movie with Johns for the past year or so. The project doesn’t have an official release date yet, but it’s expected to hit theaters in 2018.

Ever since the release of the Deathstroke video, fans have been wondering if the villain will also make an appearance in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, which is currently knee-deep into production. However, Johns declined to comment on the matter.
