Following the news, Manganiello tweeted out three emojis, those being a sword, a bat, and a skull, possibly teasing a confrontation with Ben Affleck’s Batman. His take on the DC supervillain Slade Wilson a.k.a. Deathstroke was originally going to appear as the villain opposite Affleck in Affleck’s version of The Batman.
You can check out the tweet from Manganiello below.
The theatrical cut of Justice League featured Manganiello’s Deathstroke meeting with Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor and included a set up for an Injustice League or Legion of Doom storyline in future films. While it’s unclear what the original post-credit scene may have featured, Snyder previously confirmed he did indeed work with Manganiello on the scene.
Manganiello’s run as Deathstroke has been seemingly cut short after Warner Bros. opted to not move forward with the script that Affleck co-wrote with Geoff Johns. The project was said to be inspired by David Fincher’s The Game, however, the studio instead went with an entirely new version of the Caped Crusader with Robert Pattinson starring and War for the Planet of the Apes helmer Matt Reeves directing the project.
But what do you think? Are you excited to see Zack Snyder’s Justice League finally come to fruition? What do you hope to see from the original post-credit scene with Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke? Let us know in the comments below!
Here’s the official synopsis for Zack Snyder’s Justice League:
Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
Directed by Zack Snyder, the film stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, J. K. Simmons, and Ciarán Hinds.
