Joe Manganiello Talks Excitement Over Playing Deathstroke

During a Sony Pictures celebration event for his upcoming movie, Smurfs: The Lost Village, which arrives on theaters on April 17, Joe Manganiello talked about all thing Super Bowl, betting on it with Ben Affleck. He also dropped a few lines about playing Deathstroke in The Batman.

When asked about what was the most fun part about playing the iconic anti-hero, Joe Manganiello said the following:

“Growing up an avid comic book fan, and then there were a lot of superhero roles, and supervillain roles, that came my way that I said no to, or wasn’t allowed to do, because of other commitments. So it’s just really exciting to think that this is the one. I’m glad everybody’s happy. I’m just gonna put my head down and just really show up as prepared as any supervillain ever has.”

We are definitely looking forward to seeing Joe Manganiello as Deathstroke next year, or probably even sooner if the rumors of a Justice League cameo are true. In the meantime, we still have that really cool clip from Affleck teasing the villain.

You can catch Joe Manganiello voicing Hefty Smurf in Smurfs: The Lost Village, which opens this April, and as Deathstroke in The Batman, which will likely begin filming this spring.
