John Boyega Can’t Remember Confirming ‘Star Wars: Episode IX’ Time Jump

It seems that despite apparently saying that there would be a time jump from Star Wars: The Last Jedi to Star Wars: Episode IX, actor John Boyega can’t actually remember confirming it.

The story originally came out in an Empire Magazine article where the writer claimed that John Boyega stated that there would be a time jump in Star Wars: Episode IX. The article in question did not, however, give any direct quotes which made some question its authenticity. When a fan directly asked the actor on Twitter what that was all about, he couldn’t remember what said.

According to the actor, not only did he not remember what was said but he couldn’t even remember having the interview. He cited the fact that he was tired and the past few months had been long.

You can see the full Twitter exchange below:

From the look of things, the latest Star Wars film has been running the actor a little ragged.

It is worth noting, however, that he did not shoot down the story nor has anyone from Disney or Lucasfilm. It is possible that this was something that was not meant to be confirmed at this time but it looks like we might be getting a time jump after all. Given how The Last Jedi ended, however, that may be for the best.

What do you all make of this time jump story? Would it make sense given the ending of The Last Jedi? Would you rather have seen the film immediately follow up on its predecessor the way The Last Jedi did? Was John Boyega simply misquoted? Let us know what you think in the comments below!

Star Wars: Episode IX stars Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, Billie Lourd, Naomi Ackie, Richard E. Grant, Keri Russell, Matt Smith, Dominic Monaghan, Anthony Daniels, Billy Dee Williams, and Mark Hamill.

Star Wars: Episode IX hits theaters December 20, 2019.
