After John Cena posted an image of Captain America’s shield on his official Instagram account, fans began to wonder if the wrestler-turned-actor was expressing an interest in playing the character after Chris Evans presumably retires from the role. When Ellen DeGeneres asked about the rumors, Cena state that he would be willing to take on the Captain America role if asked:
“If it’s out there, if the Captain America people are listening and you’re out there watching right now, I’ll totally do it. I totally will. I think I’d be a good Captain America. I think I’d be a good Captain America. And I’ve already ruined everyone’s childhood, so it can’t get any worse!”
