‘Smallville’ Actor John Glover Reveals His Role In ‘Shazam!’

Smallville star John Glover has revealed what his role in the upcoming movie Shazam! will be and it’s very similar to his Lionel Luthor role.

In The CW’s Superman prequel series Smallville, actor John Glover played Lionel Luthor, the father of villain Lex Luthor (Michael Rosenbaum). The actor has also appeared in other DC properties such as 1997’s Batman & Robin in which he plays the mad scientist responsible for the creation of both Bane and Poison Ivy (Uma Thurman).

John Glover is returning to the DC universe this year in Shazam!, which hits theaters in less than a month. The Smallville actor’s role was originally kept under wraps but during a recent interview with Fandom Spotlite, he revealed that he will be playing the father of another supervillain, Mark Strong’s Dr. Sivana. This is what John Glover had to say about the role.

“But he’s a beautiful actor and he plays my son grown up. I play his father.”

We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all news regarding Shazam! as soon as more information becomes available. What’s your favorite Lionel Luthor moment in Smallville? Which of John Glover’s many roles is your favorite? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

Directed by David F. Sandberg, Shazam! stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans, and Djimon Hounsou.

We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).

Shazam! will be released in theaters on April 5, 2019.
