Playing MODOK for Marvel Studios is John Hodgman's "mission in life" according to 'Ant-Man And The Wasp' director Peyton Reed.
Speaking with director Peyton Reed at the press junket for Ant-Man And The Wasp, I commented on how the Ant-Man films fall into the weirder and wackier side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With this in mind, I asked what it would take to see MODOK – who is by far one of Marvel’s weirdest characters – in a future film and it seems I’m not the only one bringing this up to Reed.
The director revealed that author and actor John Hodgman has actually been hitting him up about playing the character for quite some time. (He’s been tweeting about the role since 2015. #HodgmanForMODOK)
“Not only have you mentioned MODOK but I will occasionally get texts from John Hodgman. He has long wanted to play MODOK. It’s his mission in life. He’s a huge Marvel Comics fan. John has been sort of lobbying for years “MODOK! MODOK!”. We always talk about MODOK because he’s maybe the most bizzarro character in the Marvel Universe.”
While it’s a long shot, one can hope that John Hodgman’s dream will come true and we will be able to see that giant floating head in IMAX one day. That wacky Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing. Or whatever the acronym stands for these days. Let’s get the petition going.
