John Krasinski Talks Meeting Chris Hemsworth During Captain America Audition

John Krasinski recalled his encounter his Chris Hemsworth during his audition for the role of Captain America.

While many consider Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth to be the perfect choices for the roles of Captain America and Thor, respectively, the role of the First Avenger could have gone to someone else well-known by fans. Before Chris Evans landed the role of Captain America, John Krasinski was a contender and even got as far as trying on the suit for his audition.

During an interview on The Ellen Show, John Krasinski recalled his Captain America audition and a humorous encounter he had with Chris Hemsworth. As John Krasinki recounted, Chris Hemsworth walked by as he was trying on the Captain America suit and the more-than-impressive physique of the Thor actor immediately diminished his confidence:

“I went in and I tested for Captain America. Got to wear the suit. Which was really fun. This is a true story. […] I was putting the suit on, and I was halfway up, not wearing any other clothes other than this. […] And right at that moment, Chris Hemsworth walked by and he was like, ‘you look good, mate.’ And I was like, nope. You know what? It’s fine. We don’t have to do this. […] He was just like, jacked.”

Of course, John Krasinski fared well for himself professionally despite not landing the Captain America role. Most recently, John Krasinski helmed the box office hit A Quiet Place and returned to direct the sequel, due for release later this year. Today, John Krasinski is a fan-favorite choice for the role of Mr. Fantastic in Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four film.

While Chris Evans’ time as Captain America has come to an end, Chris Hemsworth will reprise his role as the God of Thunder Marvel Studios’ Thor: Love and Thunder. In the meantime, fans can rewatch Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans’ most recent appearance as Thor and Captain America in Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame:

The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, “Avengers: Endgame.”

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Avengers: Endgame stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan, Danai Gurira, Benedict Wong, Jon Favreau, Bradley Cooper, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Josh Brolin.

Avengers: Endgame is now available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD.
