‘John Wick: Chapter Two’ Will Have “Twice As Much Action”

Just today, we received a new poster for John Wick: Chapter Two, as well as details on it’s upcoming panel at New York Comic-Con. The first movie, starring Keanu Reeves, is widely considered as his big return to the world of action movies, and he definitely came back with a bang.

Released in 2014, John Wick was a breathe of fresh air in an otherwise exhausted genre – though the movie didn’t do anything new. It featured a plot based on revenge and included plenty of guns: neither of these things are new in action films. Though, the story had an emotional core that’s absent in other action movies, so fans are rightfully excited for the 2017 sequel.

Speaking to EW, director Chad Stahelski discussed some of the bits fans loved the most from the first movie, as well as what we can expect from the sequel.

“People kept asking us in the year after the movie came out, ‘We’d like to see more about the hotel.’ ‘We’d like to see more about all the different characters.’ ‘What is this underworld where everyone’s the best?’”

Stahelski assured fans that these subjects will be touched on and fleshed out in more detail – and we can’t wait! There was always an air of mystery surrounding Wick’s connections that worked without us needing to know more than the bare minimum, but it’s always been a point of interest. We’ll also see Wick confronting the problems raised by murdering the sheer amount of people that he did.

It’s not just the characters that will receive a boost though, as he teases that there’s plenty more action to come.

“I would say we had twice as much action as the first movie. We took it all a full notch up as far as the driving car stuff went. A great portion of the car chase in the opening of the film is Keanu, which is very impressive.”

John Wick: Chapter Two hits theatres on February 10th, 2017.
