On Wednesday, several top executives and attorneys were served deposition notices in connection with a lawsuit Johnny Depp filed against his former representative Jake Bloom. Among the potential witnesses is former Warner Bros. chairman Kevin Tsujihara, who is being asked to provide testimony by Jake Bloom’s legal team as they fight Johnny Depp’s lawsuit alleging Bloom gave the actor bad legal advice concerning his divorce from Aquaman star Amber Heard, among other things. According to THR sources familiar with the deposition, “Tsujihara will be asked to testify under oath about whether or not he played a role in ‘blacklisting’ Heard at Warner Bros.”
According to the report, Johnny Depp is alleged to have personally lobbied Kevin Tsujihara to remove Amber Heard from her role as Mera in Aquaman and block her from landing future projects with Warner Bros. Depp, who stars as Grindelwald in Warner Bros. Fantastic Beasts franchise, reportedly attempted to blacklist Amber Heard at other studios where he “also holds sway,” though Kevin Tsujihara is currently the only studio executive that has been served a deposition notice. The outlet also notes that the deposition requests offer no evidence that Kevin Tsujihara took action to prevent Amber Heard from obtaining roles in Warner Bros. movies and it would have been difficult to remove her from Aquaman as she originally played the role in Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
Of course, Amber Heard, who was also served a deposition notice in connection with the Johnny Depp lawsuit, continued to play Mera in James Wan’s Aquaman and is set to reprise her role in the sequel, which is scheduled to be released in 2022.
