Johnny Depp surprised fans of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise by making a surprise appearance on the actual Disneyland ride.
While the likeness of Captain Jack Sparrow was already integrated into Disneyland’s most famous boat ride, Johnny Depp just took it to a new level. The actor surprised Pirates of the Caribbean fans by appearing in-person as the legendary pirate.
Wednesday night, Depp appeared throughout California’s Disneyland ride, greeting fans and warning them about the voyage they are about to take.
This is a very clever way of promoting Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, which comes out around this time next month – going to the very place where the movie’s fandom and other potential viewers are likely to gather is an easy way to drum up support for the new movie and isn’t hugely expensive to pull off. Obviously, Johnny Depp can’t do this every night leading up to the movie’s release, but it does show that the actor is really committed to the fans.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales sets sail on May 26, 2017. The film stars Johnny Depp, Javier Bardem, Brendon Thwaites, Kaya Scodelario, Kevin McNally, Geoffrey Rush, and Orlando Bloom. Plans for potential sequels are still in place.
