Robert Pattinson’s The Batman is certainly jammed packed with classic DC Comics villains, but this artwork showcases what Johnny Depp could look like as a new version of the Joker for The Batman. There’s been a number of actors suggested by fans to take up the Clown Prince of Crime’s mantle when this new take on the DC hero arrives next year. Although Macaulay Culkin and Willem Dafoe are frequently mentioned in fan conversations of who should take the Joker mantle, Instagram user ‘willgray_art’ chose Johnny Depp for his creepy design.
The digital artist transformed Johnny Depp into a seemingly chaotic version of the Joker with this “40-45 minute edit,” resulting in a very creepy look for the villain. Depp’s Joker gets a classic look in this fan edit, but it’s the blood red smile that’s the most striking aspect of the art. If Robert Pattinson’s The Batman does introduce the legendary villain in the film or in a sequel, this just might be the perfect choice. You can check out the artwork below.

Full plot details on The Batman are currently under wraps, though the film will center around a younger Bruce Wayne and feature a Rogues’ Gallery of villains that includes Catwoman, The Penguin, and The Riddler. Following the Caped Crusader during his formative years as Gotham City’s protector, The Batman will make use of the hero’s detective skills to a greater extent than previous live-action adaptations. It is expected to be the first chapter in a new trilogy with Robert Pattinson as Batman.
Directed by Matt Reeves from a script he co-wrote with Mattson Tomlin, The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, with Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin.
The Batman is currently scheduled to hit theaters on October 1, 2021. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on Johnny Depp and the DC Films project, and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel!
