The Joker actor Jared Leto is still giving gifts, and Jimmy Fallon is the latest unfortunate soul to receive one on The Tonight Show.
While Leto is now officially out-of-character as the notoriously mischievous comic book villain, with Suicide Squad set to hit theaters later this week, the method actor still hasn’t stopped giving people gifts. The latest receiver is Jimmy Fallon, who got a pretty nasty surprise when Leto came on The Tonight Show to promote the soon-to-be-released superhero blockbuster.
Clarifying that it was The Joker who gave Fallon a gift and not Leto, the Oscar-winning actor played the middle man in the passing process, unveiling a small black box for the talk show host to “enjoy.” With great hesitation, Fallon opened the box and, sure enough, the gift wasn’t necessarily to his liking. Watch the video below to see what Fallon got from The Clown Prince of Crime.
Needless to say, Fallon wasn’t particularly enthused with the peace offering, but that wasn’t all. He also got a customized note from The Joker, which read, “Dear Sweet Jimmy, enjoy my snake/ It’s long and skinny, and easy to take.” Although Fallon misread the last part, to the bemusement of Leto, the audience and Fallon, although it doesn’t take much to crack the host up.
Reviews for the film are flooding online now, and some are not particularly kind. Leto’s performance has been both praised and criticized, but fans will get a chance to judge for themselves when the movie comes out starting this Thursday. I see the movie tonight, and I should have a review on the site either tonight or tomorrow morning. I’ll unquestionably talk about Leto’s performance, and I hope his performance will be the kind of gift that keeps giving.
