Former DC President Praises Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker & Zack Snyder

Former DC President Diane Nelson took to social media to praise Joaquin Phoenix as The Joker, as well as to come to the defense of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder.

The various projects coming from Warner Bros. and DC’s have been rumored since Batman v Superman was released in 2016, whether it was a Cyborg solo movie or a Joker origin film. It seems that Warner Bros. has gained a much more precise focus on the vision and tone they’d like the DC universe to have. Despite the controversies surrounding 2017’s Justice League, the upcoming slate of DC films still seems to have fans excited for what’s to come.

Fans went fittingly crazy over the recent footage of Joaquin Phoenix donning the iconic make-up and suit for the upcoming DC film Joker. The film will focus on Phoenix’s character Arthur Fleck as he begins his descent into madness and becomes the iconic clown prince of crime and promises a very unique addition to the DC franchise. Former DC President Diane Nelson took to Twitter to show her support for the film. Check out the excited Tweet from Nelson below.

One fan took Nelson’s comment as speaking against Batman v Superman director Zack Snyder. The user shared the post with the caption “Snakes on the grass”. Nelson wasn’t a fan of the comment and delivered a very fitting response for those looking to deep into her comment.

The last time fans saw the clown prince of crime on the big screen was in 2016’s Suicide Squad, as played by Jared Leto. The Joker that Leto played was a stark difference from many of the iterations of the characters over the decades of his existence. Fans didn’t take too keenly to the “Gangster Joker” as some refer to Leto’s character as, but Leto is still rumored to have his own solo movie in development.

Whether or not Leto’s Joker finds his way to the big screen again, the Joaquin Phoenix-starring Joker is setting itself up to be one of the most unique comic book movies releasing in theaters next year. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all news regarding Joker as more information becomes available. What are your thoughts on Phoenix’s look as the Joker? Let us know in the comments below!

Joker is slated to hit theaters on October 4, 2019.
