Jon Berg & Geoff Johns To Co-Run DC Films

The aftershocks of the critical massacre that was Batman v Superman has begun. Shortly after Ben Affleck was announced as the Executive Producer of Justice League, a major change has been reported. The Hollywood Reporter states that the DC Comics CCO, Geoff Johns and Producer Jon Berg will head the superhero film unit. This is an attempt to course correct after the backlash of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’s luke warm response.

The pair would have absolute oversight over the upcoming slate of DC Films and will be head of the new DC Films division launched by WB. They have also been upped to producers on the upcoming Justice League film. Berg has ties to Ben Affleck, which makes this a great pairing. He’s currently producing Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman and as of now Justice League. He previously worked with Affleck on Argo, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Live by Night. Johns is having a successful run on television. The Arrow universe spawned shows like The Flash, Supergirl and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. This would be a huge step for him in the film industry and will give him a stupendous portfolio. Johns will still report to DC Entertainment President Diane Nelson, while Berg reports to Warner Brothers Pictures President Greg Silverman.

The DC Films slate is jam packed with upcoming titles. Those titles include the David Ayer directed Suicide Squad, Patty Jenkins directed Wonder Woman, Zack Snyder Directed Justice League, The Flash, Aquaman, Cyborg, Green Lantern Corps and Two untitled DC Films expected to be Suicide Squad 2 and The Ben Affleck directed solo Batman film. A Harley Quinn focused film was previously reported to be in development by THR and a Booster Gold Film is in development by Greg Berlanti and is being written by Zack Stenz.
