Jon Bernthal Denounces Alt-Right ‘The Punisher’ Fans

Jon Bernthal, the star of 'Marvel's The Punisher' on Netflix, has some very strong words for Alt-Right fans of the character.

In a recent Esquire profile, The Punisher star Jon Bernthal had some strong words for the “Alt-Right” fans of the character. When asked how he felt about the Punisher symbol being worn on military helmets and the shoulders of the alt-right protesters in Charlottesville, Jon Bernthal responded first by praising the military members, stating that he “felt honored to play a guy who people putting their life on the line identify with.” But as for the Alt-Right? Jon Bernthal only had two words for them.

“F— them.”

Additionally, while Jon Bernthal is a gun owner himself, the actor does believe “a dialogue” in regards to preventing mentally unstable people from acquiring firearms is something that we need.

“I have a gun in my house to keep my family safe. I’m trained in that gun’s use. I know how to keep it away from my kids, and I know how to use it if I need to. Should there be a way that a guy with mental issues like the asshole in Texas can’t get guns? Absolutely. We have to have a dialogue, and that’s not happening.”

I fully agree with everything Jon Bernthall had to say above and am glad he didn’t spinkle some sugar on his responses. While there are some out there that believe these actors should avoid political topics, comics have always been political at their core. Plus, I don’t think Frank Castle would actually be too fond of the Alt-Right.

What do you think? Let us know your thoughts on Jon Bernthal’s comments in the section below.
